Iyappan was born unable to speak.
From the very beginning, his life was marked by hardship. After losing his mother at a young age and growing up in deep poverty, he faced isolation, rejection, and uncertainty about his future.
Without a voice, he had no way to express what he felt . . . or what he needed.
And as the years passed, his situation only grew more difficult.
Then one day, everything began to change. A Gideon crossed his path and gave Iyappan a New Testament and the encouragement to read it. With a copy of God’s Word in his hands, he now had somewhere to turn in moments when he felt alone.
It was a small moment. But it stayed with Iyappan.
And when loneliness came—as it often did—he began to read.
Day after day, Iyappan returned to the pages of the New Testament.
He didn’t fully understand everything but sensed something was different. Through what he read, Iyappan began to understand who Jesus is—and what He had done for him.
And in time, Iyappan received Christ as Savior and committed his life to the Lord. But the transformation didn’t stop there.
As Iyappan continued to grow in his faith, something miraculous happened. The one who had never been able to speak began to speak!
The very limitation that once defined Iyappan became the very place God chose to intervene and work.
Today, Iyappan is a pastor—faithfully sharing the Gospel with others in South India, including people in remote areas who have never heard the name of Jesus.
Because of your generosity, Gideons are equipped to step into moments like this—trusting that God will use even the simplest act of faithfulness to change a life.
