Gideons Share Christ’s Love And The Gospel In San Jose

During last week’s International Convention of The Gideons International, nearly 2,000 members from 97 countries gathered in San Jose, where most of them participated in opportunities to share God’s Word. Gideons and Auxiliary could be seen sharing Scriptures and witnessing to people they encountered in shops, restaurants, hotels and other locations throughout San Jose. By the end of the week, there were many testimonies of Gideons and Auxiliary leading others in prayers to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Here are just a few testimonies of how God opened doors and arranged divine appointments to share the Gospel and Christ’s love with others.

Closer To God Than Ever

Aaron was sitting alone reading in a park near the convention center on Saturday at noon. After walking past him, I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to go back.

So I asked Aaron if he would like a copy of Gods Word. He said “Yes,” and confessed he needed to get closer to God. I showed him the “Helps” section and the plan of salvation printed inside the back cover of the New Testament. I asked him to read each verse and say what he thought each meant. He said he wanted to pray to receive Jesus. He confirmed that he believed on Jesus as his Savior.

We thank the Lord for this appointment which God arranged. – Victor Sanders

Putting A New Song In The Heart

My wife and I set out from the convention center at lunchtime on Wednesday to share God’s Word. On San Carlos Boulevard, we approached a man sitting on his front stoop listening to music. His name was Tony. We talked and eventually I asked him if Jesus Christ was in his heart. He was not sure.

So I asked him to read God’s plan of salvation printed in the back of the New Testament aloud. After searching his heart, Tony prayed to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22nd at 12:30 p.m. Lets keep lifting him up in prayer. To God be the glory. Jesus is Lord. – Vernard Williams

From Fear To Power

As we walked in front of the county courthouse in San Jose, one of our fellow Gideons noticed a woman wearing a soccer team jersey and began talking to her about the soccer team. He learned her name was Shirley and she was from Peru.

Shirley shared some of the challenges she was going through and her concerns about finding help to overcome those.

One of the Gideons showed her a copy of God’s Word and took her to the “Helps” section, pointing to the topic of “Fear” and this accompanying verse:

“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.“ – 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

We reviewed God’s plan of salvation with Shirley. She read those verses and understood what they meant. She then prayed to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

We encouraged her to begin her Bible reading with the book of John, and to find a Bible-believing church. Then we prayed over her, asking the Lord to give her the peace of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the midst of her struggles. – Dale F. Botsford, California

God Is Still Working In San Jose

We praise God for the many testimonies of people receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior last week in San Jose.

We also thank our members who boldly proclaimed the Gospel as they presented people with copies of Personal Workers Testaments. Please pray that those who prayed to receive Christ will become active in Bible-believing churches and they will continue to grow in their walk with the Lord.

Also, please pray that the Lord will be working in the hearts of those who have yet to receive Christ, and that they will read God’s Word and receive His forgiveness before it is too late.
