Moved from fear to faith

While sharing Scriptures in Mexico City, a team of Gideons was stationed at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Early in the morning, students poured out of the subway and onto the campus. In the middle of the rush, a policeman told the Gideons they had to leave. A local Gideon named Fernando started talking with the officer, explaining more about The Gideons International. The police officer, Benito, listened and relaxed a bit. He shared how he fears for his life almost every day on his job.

The conversation moved from fear to faith. After accepting a New Testament, Benito read through the plan of salvation in the back of the book and Fernando encouraged the police officer to believe and receive Jesus Christ as his Savior. Officer Benito prayed to receive Christ and he also allowed the team to stay so others could receive the Good News. By noon, almost 10,000 students had received a personal copy of the Word of God.

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” —Luke 2:10
