At a recent Dominican Republic International Scripture Blitz, a group of young soldiers patiently waited to receive a copy of the New Testament.
A DIVINE MOMENT
As Scriptures were being distributed, their leader, Lieutenant Perez, graciously invited the Gideons to speak to his troops and he would translate. As each soldier received a New Testament, they were encouraged to write their name in the front, study its words, and discover the plan of salvation in the back pages.
But something unexpected happened. As the message was being shared, Lieutenant Perez stopped translating. Instead, he was quietly reading the plan of salvation in the back of his own New Testament. Another translator stepped forward to help, while God's Spirit was working in the heart of the lieutenant.
FROM GIVING COMMANDS TO RECEIVING CHRIST:
ONE LEADER'S TRANSFORMATION
Afterward, a local Gideon named Migul spoke with Lieutenant Perez. In front of his entire unit, the Lieutenant humbled himself, knelt on the ground, and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior. He then signed his name in the back of his New Testament—marking the beginning of a new life in Christ.
It was a powerful moment. Not just for the lieutenant, but also the young recruits who were amazed by the eternal hope of God's Word that they held in their hands.
Thank you for helping to share the truth that transforms lives. Because of your partnership, soldiers like Lieutenant Perez are discovering the hope of the Gospel, proving once again that God's Word never returns void.
