After receiving training on personal evangelism and engaging people in conversations about faith, a Gideon in the United States participated in a Bible distribution on a college campus in Michigan.
This training was crucial. And it led to eternity-changing moments for Felicia.
“I have some Good News for you today!”
Hundreds of students were moving between classes. As the Gideon prayed for God to lead him to the people he needed to witness to, a young lady approached him.
“I have some Good News for you today,” he said, extending a New Testament to her. When she asked what it was, he replied, “A Testament, God’s Word.” She gratefully took it and headed off to her next class.
The Most Important Conversation
The young lady returned a few minutes later. She said her name was Felicia, and that she didn’t know much about God or the Bible. The Gideon showed Felicia the Help sections of the New Testament—verses that addressed fear, anxiety, doubt, and other topics.
But then the Gideon asked her if she knew the plan of salvation. When Felicia responded that she didn’t, he walked her through John 3:16.
As they talked, the Gideon was amazed at how Felicia was understanding her need for a Savior and the forgiveness of a loving God.
Eternity-Changing Moment
After discussing the plan of salvation, Felicia knew she needed to ask Jesus into her heart. The Gideon led her through the Personal Prayer of Salvation in the back of the New Testament—and Felicia asked Christ to save her!
Felicia beamed, knowing she’d just become a child of God in that moment. And as they celebrated together, the Gideon had her write her name and the date in the New Testament so she’d always know her spiritual birthday.
